How to order the tests:

MTL accepts regular orders in paper or electronic form, preferably in PDF format. Customer requirements for tests may be part of an order or of technical annex to the order. The customer can use recommended request forms, which can be found in the section Download.

In case of doubt to specify the tests, is advisable consult it with laboratory personnel. The final written request must be complete, can not refer to only e-mails or even to a telephone conversation. The request must contain identification of the test sample, the list of tests and the data needed to perform these tests. The other relevant information about test sample shall be stated in test report, but only from written request to minimize errors in data transmission.

Furthermore, it is appropriate that the order contains technical contact for required tests, the method of report transmission (by mail or personal collection), requirement on storing the remnants of test samples and specimens, the presence of the Inspector for the tests, etc.

Example of requirements for testing of metallurgical material can be found here.

Example of requirements for testing of fasteners can be found here.

Example of requirements for testing of welded joints can be found here.

How to deliver the samples:

Material to be tested, that you delivered to the lab, is called test sample, which must be uniquely identified. The sample is divided into rought specimens, from which are manufactured test specimens (test piece) for each test. For the test specimen in some fields of testing is using also the term sample.

The shape and dimensions of specimens are usually given by testing specification and are important for correct test results. Therefore, in our laboratories we prefer the manufacture of test specimens in our own workshop, for which we can guarantee results. We are able to process the material of the profile dimension up to 350 x 200 mm.

When removing the test samples is important to avoid the heat affecting material from cutting. Therefore, it is always better to supply samples with added material. The minimum size of the sample(-s) must include required tests and quantity of specimens. The largest claim has tensile test, for conventional steel material is need sample length 250 to 300 mm according to the thickness. In cases where there is not enough material, smaller specimen can be tested. The final sample size for the required tests is possible to consult with laboratory personnel.

Most test of wrought products is bound to a longitudinal or transversal direction against the prevailing deformation. This direction must be marked on the samples of plates.

The marking on the supplied samples must be corresponding with the accompanying documentation. The marks should be legible and permanent. Stamped or sparking marks should not be placed on the sample surface that will be used for testing.

Price calculation and payment:

The price for performed tests is billed according to valid price list. The price includes manufacturing of test specimen. Manufacturing demands is taken to account as the percentage surcharge depending on cutting thickness, usually sheet thickness, pipe wall, rod diameter, etc., according to table L-110. The surcharge does not apply on a price list items with an asterix.

According to your specific requirements, we will prepare a price proposal or send a valid price list to you. If the tests are required to assess cause of the damage, loss of properties, etc., it is not appropriate to contractually fixed price, because the scope of testing may evolve.

MTL is subject to VAT. We accept payments by transfer or cash. The standard payment period is 14 days. The longer payment period should be communicated in advance. For new and occasional customers or for customers who in past failed to payment term, we expose pro forma invoices.

Test reports:

Output from lab is a signed test report with reference to accreditation and with round stamp.

Details of the results in test report depend on the choice of the customer. The well-arranged way is one report of one sample, respectively of one test group (heat, lot, batch, etc.). Is possible test report for multiple samples, better of a similar nature and the same tests. However, in one report can be samples with satisfactory and unsatisfactory results together.

The results reported in the test reports relate to the tests performed only on delivered samples. The test reports can serve to producers, suppliers and inspection bodies as basis for their certificate, but can not substitute independent inspection certificate.

To the results of the tests can be added advanced commentary and be put them in perspective with properties and behavior of the material. Generalizing and speculative conclusions are always outside of the scope of accreditation.
